The modern understanding of massage therapy is that nothing in the body will change unless our central nervous system decides that it is safe to make those changes. Therefore, I have recently trained in Dermoneuromodulation which is centred around this thinking. This is a gentle, hands-on technique that decreases nervous system sensitisation (using skin stretch, unloading cutaneous nerves, positional release) to effect a change - less pain and discomfort.
